Meet the Other Barretts

Daniel M. Barrett
Daniel M. Barrett (Dolores' husband of 44 years) was born and raised in St. Paul and graduated from Cretin High School in 1951. After a four-year tour in the US Navy, he graduated from the University of St. Thomas with degrees in both Psychology and Economics. He followed that by earning a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota. Dan met Dolores Rigali while working part-time at Midway Liquor Store (which was owned by the Rigali family at the time) during college, and they married in 1960. They went on to raise seven children, all born within a nine-year span, including two sets of twins in a row. Both Dan and Dolores instilled a strong work ethic into their children. In addition to their Hill-Murray diplomas, all seven Barrett children earned a college degree, with most earning advanced degrees. Professionally, Dan worked for Ramsey County for over 30 years. Initially in their Human Resources department, he eventually worked his way up to become Ramsey County's Labor Relations Director. Additionally, for 17 years he was a community faculty member of Metropolitan State University and also taught classes at both the University of St. Thomas and Minnesota State-Mankato. After retiring in 1990, Dan and Dolores eventually moved from White Bear Lake (where they raised all seven kids) to Woodbury. After the passing of wife Dolores in 2005, Dan continued to keep busy spending time with family (including nine grandchildren), road-tripping across the USA, camping with brother-in-law and best friend Tom, and watching Vikings football. In the summer of 2018, Dan was diagnosed with liver cancer and passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, where he had volunteered for many years.

Mary Barrett (Jones)
Mary received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN and continues to work in multiple functions associated with the healthcare industry (particularly wellness and memory care). She currently lives in St. Cloud with husband Mike, and enjoys reading, cooking, cross-stitching and spending time with family.

Dan Barrett
Dan received a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from the University of Minnesota in Duluth, MN followed by a Master's Degree in Geology from Baylor University in Waco, TX. A corporate environmental manager, Dan resides in Minneapolis with his wife Trish and enjoys fishing, sports, and spending time with their three children Patrick, Meghan and Bridget.

Diane Barrett (Dekany)
Diane received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. After several years working at a major corporate library and then as a research analyst for a private firm, she earned a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Sciences from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. She resides in Southern Oregon with her husband Sig and enjoys reading and travel.

Matt Barrett
Matt received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota. Matt is a training manager for FORCE America and lives in Prior Lake with his wife Mary where they enjoy spending time with their three children Molly Palma, Matthew and Maggie. Hobbies include Minnesota Vikings and Gopher football (season ticket holder for both) and politics.

Mark Barrett
Mark received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and a minor in English, from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He later earned an MBA from the University of San Diego in San Diego, CA. A resident of New York City, Mark is a VP of Corporate Risk Management and Communications for Wells Fargo Bank. Hobbies include cooking, home improvement projects, politics, and Twins baseball.

Steve Barrett
Steve earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, followed by both a Law Degree and a Master’s in Public Administration from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. Steve lives in Victoria, MN with his wife Denise and their twins Presley and Paxton and is the Human Resources Manager for the City of Bloomington. Hobbies include travel, writing, painting, and politics.

Teri Barrett (Stoltman)
Teri earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, followed by her LPN and RN Degree from Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN. She resides in Rochester, MN with her husband Nate and their daughter Emily and is the Utilization Management Supervisor for Essentia St. Mary's Hospital. Hobbies include travel, reading and cooking her favorite Italian recipes.
